Compound Bows in Central Point, OR
Picked, Fitted, and Ready to Shoot
Southern Oregon Archery, LLC is the Rogue Valley's go-to source for compound bows. Whether you're gearing up for bow hunting season or stepping into the sport for the first time, we carry the brands, have the range to test them on, and employ the staff to set them up right.
Buying a compound bow online is a gamble. Draw length off by half an inch? Wrong poundage for your frame? You won't know until you're already in the field, and by then it's too late. When you come to our pro shop in Central Point, Oregon, we make sure that doesn't happen. We fit you to the bow, not the other way around.

What Makes a Compound Bow Different?
A compound bow uses a system of cams and cables to build up and then release mechanical energy. What that means in plain terms is this: you draw back more power but hold significantly less weight at full draw, making it easier to hold steady, aim longer, and shoot more accurately than a traditional bow.
That's why compound bows have become the dominant choice for bow hunting across Southern Oregon and the rest of the country. They're faster, more forgiving, and more adjustable than recurves, which means a properly fitted compound bow gives you a real edge whether you're in a tree stand in the Cascade foothills or competing on our 30-yard indoor range.
They're also deeply personal. Draw length, peak draw weight, axle-to-axle length, let-off percentage, brace height, every one of these specs changes how a bow performs for a given shooter. That's exactly why buying in person from people who know what they're doing matters.

We stock compound bows from some of the most trusted names in the industry. Every bow we carry has been chosen because it performs, not just because it looks good on a shelf.

Compound Bows for Bow Hunting in Southern Oregon
Bow hunting in Southern Oregon is serious business. Between the dense draws around the Rogue Valley and the open ridgelines further east, the terrain here asks a lot of your gear. The compound bows we recommend for local hunters are built for short to medium range shots, quick second draw capability, and enough forgiveness to perform when adrenaline is running high.
If you're preparing for Oregon's archery deer or elk season, we'll walk you through the full picture, not just the bow. Draw weight requirements for ethical hunting, broadhead compatibility, arrow spine selection, and how to tune your setup for the distances you're likely to be shooting. That kind of advice doesn't come with a product listing online.
And just so you know, we close the opening weekend of both Oregon archery seasons because our team is out there hunting too. We know what it takes firsthand.
How We Fit You to a Compound Bow
We don't hand you a bow and wish you luck. Here's what actually happens when you come in.
01
We Talk First
What are you shooting for: hunting, target practice, competition, or just getting started? Your goal shapes everything. A bow hunting compound setup looks very different from a 3D archery rig.
02
We Measure Your Draw Length
This is the single most important fit dimension in archery. We measure it properly, not by wingspan guesswork, and we set the bow's cams to match. A correct draw length means cleaner form, better accuracy, and a lot less fatigue.
03
We Set Draw Weight
We'll help you find a peak draw weight that you can pull back smoothly and hold steadily, not the heaviest you can technically manage. For bow hunting, we'll also make sure you're meeting any applicable legal minimums for your target species.
04
We Set It Up Completely
Rest, sight, peep, D-loop, we install and tune everything before the bow leaves our hands. Our bow setup package starts at $42.50 and includes full accessory installation. You walk out ready to shoot, not ready to Google more tutorials.
05
We Send You to the Range
We have a 30-yard indoor range with eight lanes right here in the shop. You'll shoot your new compound bow before you take it home so we can confirm the tune is right and you feel confident with it.
Why Buy Your Compound Bow In Person in Central Point?
We hear this one a lot: "Can't I just order online and have it tuned here?" You can, but you'd be surprised how often we see bows ordered in the wrong draw length, wrong poundage range, or just a poor fit for the shooter's body and goals.
When you buy in store, you skip all of that. You hold real bows. You draw them. You shoot a few in our range. You leave with something that is fitted, tuned, and yours, not a return label waiting to happen.
We've been doing this in Central Point since 2006. Our staff have over 50 years of combined archery experience. When something doesn't feel right, we'll tell you, even if it means pointing you toward a less expensive option that fits better. That's just how we operate.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We've heard compound bows need to be "tuned" . Does that come included when we buy from you, or is it extra?
Full setup and tuning is included when we build a new bow for you. We install and align your accessories, paper tune the bow, and confirm everything on our range before it leaves the shop.
We already own a compound bow we bought elsewhere, will you still service it or only work on bows you sold us?
We service all brands, no matter where you bought them. Whether it's a paper tune, string replacement, or a full overhaul, bring it in. We treat every bow the same way.
We're not sure what weight we need for bow hunting in Oregon, can you help us figure that out before we buy?
Absolutely. Oregon has minimum draw weight requirements for hunting big game. We'll walk you through the rules, test what you can draw comfortably, and match you to a setup that's both legal and practical for the field.
We've been shooting a recurve, will switching to a compound bow archery setup require us to relearn everything?
There's a learning curve, but it's shorter than you'd think. The mechanics are different, but the fundamentals, stance, anchor, follow-through, carry over. We can walk you through the transition in a lesson if you want a clean start.
We saw a compound bow online for a lot less than what pro shops charge, is there a real difference, or are we just paying for the name?
Price gaps usually come from cam quality, materials, and tolerances. Budget bows can work, but they're harder to tune precisely and less forgiving in the field. We'll show you the difference side by side and let you decide.
